Successful start to the season for CURE Mannheim e.V. at Formula Student Switzerland 2025
Fully motivated, with toolboxes in tow and “Monicar” on the trailer, we set off for Geschinen in Switzerland in mid-July – for Formula Student Switzerland 2025. After months of preparation, the time had finally come: the first event of the season was upon us.
Against the impressive backdrop of the Swiss Alps, an intense week awaited us – with technical inspections, static presentations, dynamic races, and many unforgettable moments in the paddock. After moving into the camp and taking our first steps through the scrutineering halls, everything happened quickly: scrutineering passed, technical tests mastered, presentations given. We were particularly pleased with our 3rd place in the business plan – a nice confirmation of the conceptual work we had done over the past few months.
Of course, not everything went smoothly. Technical challenges, especially with the aerodynamic package, forced us to do without front and rear wings. Nevertheless, we were able to compete in three of the four dynamic disciplines – thanks to a lot of hard work and team spirit.
A small highlight was our improvised solution for fire extinguishers: to meet the requirements of the regulations, we quickly contacted the local fire department, which promptly provided us with the appropriate equipment. This action was rewarded with the T13.4 Award for creative implementation of the rules.
At the end of the week, we finished in a solid 7th place overall. But much more important to us than the result was what we learned in Switzerland: about technology, communication, organization—and above all, about teamwork. Now we are looking ahead: in a few days, we will continue on to Formula Student Czech Republic, before our home race in Hockenheim in August. We are ready – with fresh feedback and plenty of motivation.
